3M™ 481 Preservation Sealing Tape is a 9.5 mil black polyethylene-backed tape engineered for long-term sealing and preservation of industrial and military equipment during transportation and extended storage. The conformable polyethylene backing adapts to irregular surfaces, contours, and complex geometries common on machinery, vehicle components, and assembled equipment.
This tape is used across defense, aerospace, and heavy industrial environments where equipment must be sealed against moisture, dust, and environmental exposure during prolonged storage or transit. The black polyethylene backing provides opacity that blocks UV exposure and aids surface identification on wrapped or staged components.
