3M™ 4979F VHB™ Tape is a 62-mil black acrylic foam tape with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive system and a red polyethylene liner. VHB (Very High Bond) construction delivers structural-grade adhesion to metals, composites, plastics, and coated surfaces — eliminating the need for mechanical fasteners in many bonding applications.
The conformable foam core allows this tape to follow irregular and non-flat surfaces, making it well suited for automotive trim attachment, architectural panel bonding, electronics enclosure assembly, and industrial fabrication where substrate geometry varies. The UL 746C listing supports deployment in electrical and electronic assemblies requiring certified materials.
The acrylic adhesive resists moisture, UV exposure, plasticizers, and solvents, maintaining bond integrity from -40°F to 200°F. Each roll measures 1 inch wide by 5 yards long and is sold individually at approximately 0.44 lbs. per roll. Ships via parcel carrier.
