3M™ 8979 Performance Plus Duct Tape is a 12.1 mil black duct tape engineered for demanding outdoor and industrial use. Its waterproof polyethylene-coated backing resists abrasion, moisture, and weathering for up to one year in outdoor exposure, while the aggressive adhesive is formulated to release cleanly from most opaque surfaces for up to six months post-application — even after UV and temperature extremes.
This tape is well suited for bundling, sealing, reinforcing, and temporary fastening in construction, facilities maintenance, manufacturing, and industrial operations. The black colorway serves color-coded workflow systems and blends cleanly on dark substrates where visibility of tape edges is undesirable.
Each roll measures 2 inches wide by 60 yards and is sold in cases of 24. The tape ships via parcel carrier, making it practical to reorder in case quantities without special delivery arrangements.
